Gene P. Nevin, 68, of Allegheny Township died Monday (Nov. 12, 2001) in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights, Harrison.
Born June 7, 1933, in Sidney, Ohio, he lived in Allegheny Township the past 34 years. A Korean War veteran, he served with the Air Force. Mr. Nevin was a machinist at Alcoa, Upper Burrell, until retiring in 1992. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW, Lower Burrell. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling and softball. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Evelyn L. Pierce Nevin of Allegheny Township; a son, Phillip G. Nevin of Allegheny Township; three daughters, Cathy L. Bertram of Tarentum, Sandra J. Nale of Apollo, and Cynthia R. Huncher of Cheswick; six grandchildren; and a sister, Kathryn Billing of Anna, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Grace Iiams Nevins, and two brothers, Ralph and Dale Nevin. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 tonight in CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME, 100 Owens View Drive, Apollo. Services will follow at 10 a.m. Wednesday, where military honors will be accorded by the Armstrong County American Legion. Officiating will be the Rev. Clifford Foster. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo. The family suggests memorial donations may be made to Kiski Valley Habitat for Humanity.
