    Dies at His Home Today After Long Illness
    Martin L. Gates passed away at noon today at his home on East Monument Ave. in Pleasant Hill at the age of 74 years. Mr. Gates has been suffering for some time from complications of diseases. He is well known having lived his entire life in this vicinity, and was an active member of the Congregational Christian Church in Pleasant Hill. Besides the widow, the deceased is survived by a daughter Mrs. Mary Robins of Mentor, two sons Dr. G.R. Gates of Bedford Mass. and J. A. Gates of Newport, Oregon.
