John C. Harlan, in 1816, married Lydia, a daughter of Jacob Hale, and settled in Chester Township.
John Harlan and Enoch, his brother, came from North Carolina with their mother, and, after a short residence in Highland County, settled in the same vicinity in the spring of 1807. He married Lydia Hale, daughter of Jacob Hale. He has been dead but a few years. They had the following-named children: Jacob, Elizabeth, Rebecca, James and Warren.
