OBITUARY.....
William Wallace Crane born April 29, 1852, died January 25, 1913, was the son of Joseph Crane. His mother was Rebecca Pence who still survives him at the age of 85. Besides this aged mother he leaves a wife and daughter, Miss Edith , two sisters, Mrs. James Wills of Dodds and Mrs. William Linder of Miamisburg, also a brother John Crane of Richmond, Indiana. It is a painful duty to record the death of one who has lived so much for others; one who has given so much friendly counsel and timely aid to those whose mental horizon was depressed by a sunken sky; one who has been a dutiful son to the aged parents and in the home an agreeable companion, straightforward and affectionate in nature. Yet it gives pleasure in reviewing a life so well rounded as if he had lived to a ripe old age. A life so filled with exuberant spirits when extending hospitality to friends and neighbors. We recall today his openhearted cheeriness of manned and the charm of his conversation, sparkling with wit and anecdote and "His greeting smile was a pledge and prelude, of generous deeds and kindly words." The deceased felt the big degree of responsibility involved in all his duties aiming to understand justice and doing it. The voice of sorrow is unanimous throughout this and adjoining counties, where he has come in contact with men in various lines of business. None knew him but to love him and this alone teaches us to know well in the germ of his character for his life and principles are traced to the fountain of his heart. Rev. Hillstron officiated, interment at Corwin.
