Ira Lackey served in the Thirty-Fifth Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry which was organized at Hamilton, OH in August and Sept. 1861.At the age of 27 on the 15 Aug 1861 at Camp Hamilton, Oh he mustered in Co. A of the 35th OVI and served 3 year. He was mustered out 26 of Aug 1864 at Chattanooga, Tenn. He fought in these battles: Siege of Corinth, Miss- 30 Apr 1862 Perryville, KY - 8 Oct 1862 Tullahoma Campaign, TN- Jun 23-30 1863 Chicamaugua, GA -19-20 Sept 1863 Mission Ridge TN - Nov 25, 1863 Atlanta Campaign GA -May-Aug
His regiment lost 5 officers during service, 75 enlisted men were killed and 2 officers died of disease along with 126 enlisted men by disease. Total 208 men lost their lives.
