He was married 11 Apr 1632 to Annatie Barents in Oudekkerk, Amsterdam, Holland. The marriage intentions (in Holland in Mar 1662) were listed at the DRC, he was listed as a sailor, age 24, with no parents, assisted by an uncle, Lourens Peters. Annatie Barents was 24 years old, assisted by her mother, Gessel Baerens, and gave her
original home as Alfenbruch/Oudebroek in Germany. Gessie's sumame is often referred to as van Rotmerz/Rolmers). No info is available about her father except his name was probably Barent and probably deceased by 1632. Eva's mother Gessie Barents later married Pieter Jacobsz/Jacobson.
Eva was born ca. 1632-3 in Holland, bapt. 9 Jan 1633 in Ev. Luth. church, Amsterdam, Holland, died 1689 in New Netherlands.
- [S1508] Immigration: Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild, New York Passenger List Arrivals - Ship Rensselaerswick.
This ship sailed from Amsterdam 25 Sept. 1636; anchored off The Texel, [a North Sea island off of Holland], 8 Oct. 1636; arrived at New Amsterdam, New Netherland, 4 March 1637; and arrived at "foort aeranien" [Fort Orange- Troy, N.Y.], on 7 April 1637.
There is no list of passengers on this voyage. However, it was recorded that there were thirty-eight laborers assigned to various farmers on the Rensselaer estate, a large grant of land held by Killian Van Rennselaer, a diamond merchant of Amsterdam.
"foort aeranien" was the name for Fort Orange - Troy, N.Y.
