David Siler was born in Berkeley County, (now West) Virginia, to Jacob and Elizabeth Castle Siler. His family moved to Ohio and settled in Champaign and Miami Counties. David married Susan Bayless on the same day his brother John married Susan's sister, Louisa. When David died in 1882 he was 51 years old. His estate was settled in Miami County where he had lived and farmed, but no mention of his actual place of death or burial has been found. It is assumed he was buried in Miami County, but another possibility would be Buck Creek Cemetery in Champaign County. David's father Jacob Siler and brother Jacob Jr are buried there. Many of the stones have been covered over and lost to time.
