  The name Null is spell Näll in German. Charles Null is listed in the Tithables 1792 with 2 horses and living in East District 14, now in Page County. In 1792, Charles' brother, Christian had gone to Warren County, Ohio, to look for better farming land than what they had in Virginia. In early 1798, Charles joined Christian in Ohio, and together they built what is still known today as the Null House. By 1802, most all of the Null family emigrated from Rockingham County, Virginia, to Warren County, Ohio, settling in the Clear Creek Township. In later years, the Null House became a haven as part of the Underground Railroad, and is still located just off the Heatherwoode Gold Course.
