James Riggs, son of Edmond and Mary (Brooke) Riggs, was born September 15, 1742, in Prince George's (later Montgomery) county, Maryland.
James Riggs and his family moved to Bedford County, Pennsylvania, where he enlisted and served as a private in Lieutenant Rose's Ranging Company, during the Revolution. About the year 1799, he removed to New Mattamoris, Ohio, where he died February 22, 1815.

9. John Riggs, married Sarah Wilson. He died in Indiana; left large issue.
