  Married: As entered upon the Proclamation Register, preserved in the Old Archive of Groningen, the following attestation was made concerning the publication of the banns in that city: February 4, 1630. —The Honorable Tomas Swartwolt of Groningen in Lamhuinge Street, and the virtuous maiden Aerijaentijen Sijmens of Amsterdam; the publication was allowed here inasmuch as it must also be proclaimed there, as the attestation hereof shows. —For this appeared Thomas Swartwout of Groningen, twenty-three years old, a tobacco merchant, residing on the Kcyscrsgracht, and Ariaentje Sijmons of Amsterdam, twenty-two years old, assisted by her father, Sijmon Sijmons, and by her mother, Catryna Grcbbers, residing on the Prinsengracht, seeking the crying out of their banns on three Sundays in order to obtain the solemnization of the aforesaid marriage, and to have it wholly consummated, so far as otherwise before granted, changed, hindered, and interpreted. And for that they truly declare that they are free persons and together in extraction. —Nothing existing where a Christian marriage should be prevented, they here proffer their compliance.   [S686] Book: The Biggs Family, p32 - Tomys Swartwout. Eva (Brink) Biggs' father was Huybert Lambertse Brink, eldest son of Lambert and Hendrickjen. Huybert married Hendrickje Swartwout, daughter of Roeloff and Eva (Bradt) Swartwout on March 16, 1677/78, in Hurley, Ulster County, New York. Tomys Swartwout was the progenitor of the Swartwout family in America. He was bom in 1607 in Groningen, Holland, the son of Roeloff and Catryna Swartwout. On April 7,1630, in the New Church (Niewe Kerk) in Amsterdam, Holland, he married Andrijetjen, daughter of Sijmon and Catryna (Grabbers) Sijmons. His first wife died on December 17, 1630, in childbirth. Their child, Jan, was bom in Amsterdam, December 17, 1630. On June 3,1631, Tomys remarried Hendrickjen, daughter of Barent and Jacominjntje Otsen. Barent Otsen was a prominent book publisher in Amsterdam.
