    Charles Honeyman, of Hampshire County, Virginia, resided for a number of his later years on the farm of his son Michael in Miami County, Ohio, near West Milton, where others of his children resided.

    Virginia - First permanent settlement was established in 1607. It was made a royal colony in 1624. Large areas west of the Alleghenies became part of colony before the Revolution. The colony became the 10th state in 1788. Hampshire County - Formed in 1753 (or 1754) from Augusta and Frederick counties, Virginia. It became part of West Virginia in 1863.

    ...The Honeyman family is from near Manchester, England from whence Samuel emigrated to philadelphia about 1700. His grandson Samuel, served with the First Philadelphia Regiment during the Revolutionary War. During the latter years of his life, he removed his family to Hampshire County, West Virginia, the only son Charles, with his wife Barbara Moore, moved to Miami County with most of their children. Their son, John, bought the Honeyman homestead in 1834. John and wife, Mary Orm were the parents of Eli W., who married Anna Miller. Their son, Oliver Miller honeyman, married Mary Elizabeth Cress, parents of Walter. The surname was derived in ye olden days when the family were bee-keepers.     First found in Pennsylvania in the Christ Church registry 1738. He bought his first lot in 1746. William Honeyman seems to have been quite a property owner in Philadelphia. In 1769 his property tax in High Street Ward lb. 30.3.0; in 1774, lb. 3.6.6. After his death his estate was taxed as follows: in 1779, in North Ward, lb.30; in 1780, in Mulberry West Ward, lb. 16.10.0, the latter being on a valuation of lb. 6,000.
