OBITUARY
Funeral services for Charles Chester Hormel, 86, of 417 N. Seventh St., will be conducted at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Aloysins Bertrand Officiating. No rosary is scheduled. Callahan-Edfast mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hormel, a retired Public Service County, employee, died at St. Mary's Hospital Saturday, in ill health for several years, he had been hospitalized for three months. Mr. Hormel was superintendent of both the Grand Junction steam plant and the Palisade hydro plant from 1931 until he retired July 1, 1952. He had previously worked for Public Service in Denver, at the Shoshone plant near Glenwood Springs, the Valmont plant near Boulder, in Sterling, and at Salida before moving to Grand Junction. Mr. Hormel learned about power generating at Joplin, Missouri and joined PSC at Denver April 1, 1910. Mr. Hormel was born at Kearney, Neb., Jan. 12, 1878. He married Gertrude Irene Malloy in Buena Vista in 1916. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Elks Lodge, for which he was presented a 50-year pin in recent weeks. He was the inventor of a tool called a "fish reel" which is standard equipment for electricians. His only survivor is his wife.
