Notes |
May 30, 1703 - Philadelphia Monthly Meeting, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (pg. 547), Samuel Heald and wife Mary, received on certificate from Mobberly Monthly Meeting, Chester County, England, dated October 3, 1702.
Samuel, eldest child of William and Jane (Donbobbin) Heald, was born at the Healdmill Farm in Mobberly. Samuel and Mary Heald were the parents of eight children. They emigrated to America, bringing with them a certificate bearing the date October 3, 1702 from Mobberly Monthly Meeting and were received on certificate by the Monthly Meeting of the Philadelphia Society of Friends on May 30, 1703. At the time of their emigration to Pennsylvania in 1702/1703, the Healds had five children ranging in age from less than 1 year to about 10 years: Sarah, William, Mary, Jane and Samuel. Records of birth for Sarah and Mary were found inthe records of Quaker Quarterly Meeting, Cheshire, indicating Samuel and Mary were probably following the Quaker faith at the time of their marriage in 1691. After their arrival in America, they had four additional children born in Kennet Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania: Bancroft, Dinah, Jacob and Joseph. Samuel and Mary were the last of the Hackney/Harlan/Heald family of Quakers to arrive in America. Samuel died in Kennet township, Chester County, Pennsylvania in 1736 and is buried in the Friends Burial Ground there. Mary (Bancroft) Heald is buried beside her husband.]
