Obituary |
Greenville Daily Advocate (Greenville, Ohio) 28 December 1931, p1 [10] |
Troy, O. Dec. 28.—Rev. Owen M. Sellers, West Milton, for 33 years an active minister of the Methodist Episcopal church and at various times pastor of many of the Churches of that denomination in Miami county, died at Christ hospital, Cincinnati, at 7:15 o'clock on Christmas morning. He had gone to the hospital just before Thanksgiving and some two weeks ago underwent a preliminary operation. He had seemed to be getting along well and it had been anticipated he would undergo further surgery.
Funeral services will be held at the M. E. church in West Milton at one o'clock Monday afternoon. Rev. E. D. Baker of Troy, pastor of the West Milton church, will officiate, and Dr. E. H. Roberts, of Springfield, district superintendent, will participate in the service. Burial will be made at New Burlington, Clinton county.
The decendent was born on a farm north of Lebanon, Warren county, Feb. 17, 1953, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Sellers. The greater part of his life was devoted to the ministry and he served many churches oin this section, among them being Tippecanoe City, Covington, Casstown, Bethel, West Milton, and Grace, at Piqua, all in Miami county, and Trinity at Dayton, New Carlisle, Mechanicsburg, Jamestown and Leesburg. Since his retirement he has resided most of the time at West Milton.
He retired from active pastoral work in 1910 but continued to do much supply work as he was happiest when he was engaged in the service of the church and it's head.
He was united in marriage to Miss Flora Haydock of New Burlington, who died three years ago last May. There survive three sons; Damon H. Sellers, superintendent of schools of Miami county, who resides at Troy; Evan O. Sellers, of Lima, and Randolph F. Sellers of Cincinnati.
