- [S611] Book: The Pittenger Families of New Jersey - 1665 to 1800, Pg. 111 - Daniel Pittinger Family.
Auld says Daniel and Elizabeth were married in 1732/3 in Somerset County, she having been baptized 6 December 1713, in the Old Dutch Church, Kingston, New York, the daughter of John and Eva Lambertse (Brink) Biggs. He lists their children as Elizabeth bom 1734, Maria baptized 1736, John born 1740/1, Daniel 1740-49, Hannah 1740-49, Prudence 1740-1753, William 1749 and Benjamin 1751. Although I have not found any record of the marriage the 1732/3 date seems reasonable and we have records that their first two children, Elizabeth and Maria where christened in the Readington DRC 1 September 1734 and 23 May 1736, respectively, with Maria Biggs, probably Elizabeth's mother, as witness. If Daniel was correct in giving John's age as 27 in 1767 then he was born about 1740 and from the only existing tombstones in the "Pittenger Cemetery" Benjamin was born in 1751 having died 28 November 1815, age about 64.
As the family of Daniel and Elizabeth are "Maryland" Pittengers, I will not document them further here nor try to resolve the conflicting data. Therefore, I postulate that Daniel Pittenger who moved with his family to Frederick County, Maryland and died there was the son of Richard II and Syche Hendrickse baptized in 1710; married in Somerset County about 1733 to Elizabeth Biggs who was bom about 1713, the daughter of John Biggs and Eva Lambertse Brink; had the four sons and four daughters fisted above; and died testate in Frederick County before February 1796.
