He played the fiddle. He learned from an uncle who made him one from a cigar box. In 1937 he lived, along with son Ernest and daughter Rosanna at 115 East Main in Piqua, Ohio. He was a farmer and blacksmith. At one time he worked at the Meckstroth Blacksmith Shop on Greene Street in Piqua. He died at Stouder Hospital of bronchopneumonia due to bilateral pyelonephritis and generalized arterio sclerosis. (Source: Information received from Dale Landon, CD)

Her death was sudden due to acute dilitation of the heart from infection contributed by septic phlebitis. The funeral arrangements were by Coppock and Lee of Tipp City, Ohio.
