Samuel emigrated in 1783, with his parents from Chatham County, North Carolina, to Fayette County, Pennsylvania and then to what is now Warren County, Ohio. In 1828 he moved with his family to Parke County, Indiana, remaining there until the death of his wife, when he went to live with his son, Israel, in Crawford County, Kansas. (Source: Alpheus H.
