Family moved to Springboro, Ohio about 1820 and later to Frankfort, Indiana. A number of Pence families helped found Frankfort and named it for Frankfort, Germany where the family came from to America.
They were the parents of 8 children born in Virginia on Cub Run, Rockingham County,. Five boys: Jacob, John, William, Nicholas and Peter; Three girls: Mary (Polly), Louisa and Rebecca.
