John Hart, Sr., emigrated from Augusta County, Virginia, to Preble County, Ohio, in 1808. He settled near Brennersville. He lived there some ten years and then moved on to Price's Creek, and in 1849 removed to Carroll County, Indiana where he died in 1856. He was born in Pennsylvania in 1773 , and moved when young, to Augusta County, Virginia, where he was, subsequently, married to Elizabeth Sellers. His wife died in Twin Township, Preble County, Ohio and he was afterwards married twice. He was one of the pioneer preachers of the Dunker Church in this county, and faithfully followed the calling for many years. He assisted in organizing the first Dunker Society in Twin Township. He was a tailor by trade, and worked from house to house. [Source: H. Z. Williams & Bro., Publishers - Cleveland, Ohio: W. W.
